  5. I.  Introduction
  6. ================
  7. In Windows 95 version OSR2.0 or earlier, the Univeral Serial Bus (USB)
  8. and the PCI to ISA Bridge devices from the Intel 430TX chipset mainboard 
  9. cannot be correctly recognised and the drivers for these devices were not
  10. included too.  So after installation of the Windows 95, there will always
  11. be a QUESTION MARK next to these 2 devices.  Indicating that the the driver
  12. is not installed or the device is not working properly.
  13.  
  14. The problem is that Windows 95 OSR2.0 or earlier version, were released 
  15. before the 430TX chipset hit the market.  So these earlier version of the 
  16. OS, do not have the correct drivers build-in.
  17.  
  18. In order to resolve this problem, we are offering this patch program, to 
  19. allow Windows 95 to correctly detect the devices.  After installing this 
  20. program, you will find that both of these devices show they are working 
  21. properly.

  24. II. Files
  25. =================
  26. The files are:

  28. --  README.TXT   - This ReadMe file.
  29. --  PIIX4PCH.EXE - This Program file
  30.  
  31. III. Installation
  32. =================
  33. PART 1
  34.    Step 1.) Insert the disk into Drive A: or B: 
  35.    Step 2.) From the START MENU, select RUN, type in 
  36.             <drive>:\piix4pch\PIIX4PCH then Select OK
  37.    Step 3.) Select 'Y' if your Windows 95 directory is C:\WINDOWS
  38.    Step 4.) Type 'N' to enter your Windows 95 directory
  39.    Step 5.) The installation is complete, Proceed to Part 2

  41. PART 2
  42.    Step 1.) Open Control Panel
  43.    Step 2.) Open System
  44.    Step 3.) Select Device Manager
  45.    Step 4.) Select View device by type
  46.    Step 5.) Open System device
  47.    Step 6.) Select PCI Bus.
  48.    Step 7.) Press Remove button.
  49. !!! NOTE: Make sure you had selected the correct device.  If in doubt, 
  50.           choose Cancel to cancel removal.
  51.    Step 8.) Select OK to remove the PCI Bus item.
  52.    Step 9.) Select Yes to restart the system.
  53.    Step 10.) Windows 95 will display messages that it had detected various
  54.             new hardware components in the system, and proceed with its own 
  55.             installation procedure.  When prompted to restart Windows, click
  56.             Yes to restart Windows. This may repeat for several time.  
  57.             Finally when Windows 95 complete its bootup procedure, check the 
  58.             Device Manager again.  You will see that all device show it is 
  59.             working normally.
